My name is Kathryn Kimber.
I am introductin a new class this year called Langue 8. This class is designed for students who will appreciate the historical, social and cultural aspects of different languages in the world. My expertise will allow me to introduce students to my knowledge in the following languages of German, Spanish, Italian and French. I am very interested in exploring other languages such as Canadian First Nations languages as well as Russian as maybe even an oral view of some Japanese!
This class is about exploring and observing all that entales LANGUAGES!

LISTENING/COMMUNICATING: listen to a story (clic or clic in Spanish) in your chosen language and try to repeat 2-3 sentences OR go to your duolingo and look up "stories"
READING: choose a story from your chosen language (or a cultural story) and try to read it and tell me about it
WRITING: Your choice:
1. Write the beginning of a story using some of your chosen language vocabulary (mixing with English) OR
2. Creating a crossword or wordsearch with min.10 words (your maximum choice) in your choice of theme

3. Write 5 sentences using a verb (to be, to have ) that can be conjugated with 5 different pronouns (I, you, they, He, She) in your chosen language

READING: Research how the language you chose is different, special and unique. Find a country in particular that explains these essential language specifics (regional accents, vocabulary, pronunciation and interesting facts - connections to the English language)* Don't forget to add the website you used
LISTENING/COMMUNICATING: With Duolingo (or other website*) Find 10-15 words you can use within a specific subject in a conversation (restaurant, family, site seeing, etc...)
WRITING: Write a conversation that could possibly occur with the vocabulary noted. 2) a paragraph explaining the language you researched with the information you found interesting.
APRIL 27-May 1st

READING: find a short text in the language you have chosen (maybe from a news paper, a childrens book or an advertisement) and underline words that seem "familiar" or if it is totally unfamiliar language, words that would be useful or "key" words to the subject (after finding a suitable translation) * if using a program or application or other tool (such as google translate) make sure to reference it! - its a good thing :)
